Three children have been killed and six other people injured following a knife attack at a primary school in China’s central Hubei Province by a parent of a student.
A deadly knife attack at the Dongfang Primary School in Shiyan City has left three children dead and a further six people injured. An attacker, who was later identified as a parent at the school, stabbed eight children and an adult before committing suicide by jumping from a building.
The man, identified as Chen Yanfu, 40, carried out the violent attack because “refused to allow his daughter to register for the new term on Monday” because “she did not finish her summer homework”, CCTV, China’s state media broadcaster, said. The attack in Hubei is just the latest in a number of stabbings in Chinese schools – many primary schools – in recent years.
