Dozens of people, at least 50 so far, have been killed in fighting north of the Yemeni capital Sana’a. Of the dead 20 have been identified as government troops while the remaining dead we’re Houthis fighters.

The deaths come as the country begins to see more and more anti-government protests. The clashes have been ongoing in the Jawf region for a few days now, with both sides viewing the area as a vital location. The belief is that whoever can consolidate their presence in Jawf will control the main road into the capital, strengthening their chances of success.
