Taliban fighters have taken control of Ajrestan, a key strategic district in the Afghan province of Ghazi
The key strategic district of Ajrestan, in the Afghan province of Ghazni, was seized on Friday by Taliban militant. The capture came after a week long battle and following the seizure 15 individuals were beheaded after being accused of collaborating with authorities, including women.
The capture of Ajrestan allows the Taliban a launching platform to initiate attacks on other regions. It also allows them to strengthen their control over the Ghazni, where they have been prevalent in recent years, which is an important gateway to Afghanistan’s capital Kabul from the southeast.
