Captured British citizen Alan Henning is believed to have been beheaded by Islamic State militants, following the release of a video purporting to show his killing.
Salford taxi driver and aid worker Alan Henning has been killed by Islamic State militants. A video purporting to show Mr Henning’s beheading was released on Friday by the group, after he was captured delivering aid in Syria in December.
The Islamic State had threatened to kill the 47-year-old last month, in a statement made during the video of fellow Briton David Haines’ similar beheading execution. The militant carrying out the beheading, similarly to the previous videos, had a British accent and it is believed to have been the same executioner – known by the moniker ‘Jihadi John’.
In response to the killing David Cameron said that Britain would do all that it could “to hunt down these murderers and bring them to justice”. He explained to press that the killing of father-of-two Henning was a clear display of “how barbaric and repulsive” the Islamic State was.
