A United Nations aid worker, originally from the Sudan, has died of Ebola in a Liepzig hospital in Germany.
A 56-year-old UN aid worker has died from the Ebola virus in a German hospital in Liepzig. The man had been receiving experimental drugs to treat the virus when he died, causing concern over the effectiveness of these drugs – which are being rushed through to try and treat the deadly virus, which has killed 4’000 people in West Africa.
The death of the man, who had been in a hospital isolation unit, has come about after a second person contracted the disease in the United States. This was the first case of someone contracting the disease outside of West Africa.
