Nine people have been killed in a series of revenge killings by off-duty policemen, in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.
Following the killing of a policeman in the northern city of Belem, a group of off-duty policemen went on a bloody rampage, killing nine. Driving motorbikes around the city, the group went on a six-hour killing spree.
Tensions had risen hours earlier following the death of Antonio Marcos da Silva Figueiredo, a 43-year-old policeman in the city. Reports say that the officer was killed by a group of three armed men, in an unprovoked attack.
