A second knife attack in Israel, just four hours after the previous incident, has resulted in three people being stabbed, one dying from their injuries.
Just four hours after a Palestinian man stabbed an IDF soldier in Tel Aviv, another Palestinian stabbed three Israelis outside the Jewish settlement of Alon Shvut. A young woman, 26-year-old Dalia Lemkus, was killed in the incident while two others were lightly injured.
The knife-wielding assailant, who had initially intended to perpetrate a vehicular ‘terror attack’, was shot by security guards and remains in a critical condition. Named as Palestinian Maher al-Hashlamun from Hebron, the man had previous convictions in Israel between 2000-2005 for throwing molotov cocktails at an IDF patrol. Reports claim he was a member of an Islamic Jihad group.
The incidents, both of which were perpetrated by Palestinians, are believed to have been fueled by recent tensions between Israel and Palestine over a holy site. Both assailants remains in police custody, following the separate events.
