At least 10 people have been killed, following an explosion at the Maelbeek metro station, in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
The Belgium broadcaster VTM says 10 people were killed in the blast at the Maelbeek metro station. The station is about 500m from the EU buildings.
The death toll at the Zaventem airport in Brussels has also increased, rising to 13 people dead in the attack, the Belgian broadcaster also reported. A further 35 people are severely injured.
The attacks have crippled transport within the Belgian capital, with Brussels airport shut down, at Zaventem outside the capital, and the city’s bus, tram and metro systems are all closed.
