Cyprus’ foreign affairs ministry has named the hijacker of the EgyptAir flight that was diverted to Larnaca airport, in Cyprus.
The Cypriot foreign affairs ministry has named the hijacker of EgyptAir Flight MS181, which was diverted from its planned route between Alexandria and Cairo, to Larnaca airport in Cyprus.
They named the hijacker as Seif Eldin Mustafa, via social media. They did not provide any further details about his identity.
Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades confirmed to journalists that it is not believed that the hijacking has anything to do with terrorism.
“It’s not something which is to do with terrorism” he told reporters during a press conference.
Earlier reports suggested the hijacker had demanded to see his estranged wife, who lives in Cyprus.
