A Mexican singer has been shot and killed, in the US city of Chicago.
A Mexican singer has been shot dead in the US city of Chicago, local police have said.
Alejandro Fuentes, 45, died on Saturday in hospital after an ambush on Thursday night. He was a former contestant on Mexico’s version of The Voice TV talent show, appearing in 2011.
Fuentes had reportedly been celebrating his birthday with friends on Thursday night, the local medical examiner’s office said.
His death comes 10 days after singer Christina Grimmie, who appeared on the US edition of The Voice, was shot and killed in Orlando, Florida.
The number of murders in Chicago has risen this year, up 72% from 2015.
