Turkey Coup: Clashes In Istanbul’s Taksim Square

Clashes have reportedly broken out in Isntabul’s Taksim Square, after supporters of President Erdogan turned out there, following the outbreak of a military coup in Turkey.

Supporters of President Erdogan have reportedly turned out to Taksim Square in the centre of Istanbul as reports of the attempted coup emerged and Erdogan urged Turks to take to the streets.

Since then there have been reports of clashes there, with some witnesses saying that gunfire has been heard near the square.

There has also been reports of clashes between soldiers and police at the Turkish police headquarters, which are located near Taksim Square, with reports suggesting heavy weapons may have also been used.
