Two men who took hostages in a church in France’s northern Normandy region have been shot dead, according to French media reports.
The men, armed with knives, had taken several people hostage in a church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, police told Reuters.
French media reported that five hostages were being held, and that a sixth escaped and raised the alarm. A priest, two nuns and two worshippers were reported to be among the hostages.
Firefighters told RTL that several people had been injured.
