Two police officers have been injured in an explosion at a shop in the centre of Budapest.
The area was cordoned off near the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music after police and emergency services arrived. Witnesses said cars were damaged in the blast at around 10.30pm local time on Saturday.
A government spokesman declined to say whether it might have been a deliberate attack. Some reports have blamed the incident on a gas explosion.
‘The local and expert examination of the origins of the explosion and the review of the damage is under way,’ a police statement said.
