London Attack: Islamic State Claim Responsibility

Islamic State militants have claimed responsibility for the attack in London yesterday which killed three people and the attacker, as well as injuring a further 40 others.

The militant group made the declaration of responsibility through its Amaq news agency, claiming that the man believed to have been responsible for the Westminster attack was a “soldier of the Islamic State”.

Earlier in the day, police carried out raids in both London and Birmingham, arresting eight people.

Two of the three victims, aside from the attacker, have been named as PC Keith Palmer, the police officer stabbed to death inside the grounds of the Palace of Westminster, and Aysha Frade, a college worker, who died after being struck on Westminster Bridge.
