Spanish police have arrested one man in connection with the terror attack in Barcelona earlier today, whilst the official death toll has risen to 13, with a further 50 injured.
Catalan police also dismissed earlier rumours suggesting that the attacker had been holed up in a bar near to Las Ramblas, where the attack took place.
Local media reports had initially suggested that a man responsible for the attack had holed up nearby, but police reassured people via Twitter that nobody was hidden in bars in the surrounding area.
Catalonia’s interior minister Joaquim Forn has also confirmed that the official death toll for the terror attack has risen to 13 people, whilst a further 50 were also injured in the attack.
Local media sources had earlier reported police sources saying that thirteen people had died, but these reports had been unconfirmed. An earlier official statement by police had only confirmed one fatality.
