At least seven people have been wounded following a knife attack in the city of Surgut, in central Russia, with police shooting the attacker dead.
The man reportedly stabbed at passersby on the street at random, before being shot dead by police.
Two of the injured are believed to be in critical condition, according to state-owned news agency RIA Novosti.
Russia’s Investigations Committee said it had identified the attacker and was checking his psychological history. The attacker was a local resident born in 1994, it said.
No motive has been established yet, with a spokesperson for the committee refusing to comment on the possibility of terrorist motives, calling the attack “attempted murder”.
